Basin Tips
AB is all
about capping nodes and keeping them. You only need to hold 3
to win, so under normal circumstances, don’t go for a fourth
one unless you’re pretty much guaranteed a victory. Typically
you should grab 3 nodes to start and hold them until you have
a pretty good lead; then you can try for a 4th node.
If
your opponent is the type to zerg nodes with 8 or more members,
you can serve a good role with one or two stealth partners by
always going to the node these 8+ people have just left and taking
that node. This way even if they take the node they are currently
attacking, you have the same number of nodes left. Then proceed
to the next one they are leaving from, etc. Even if your opponents
aren’t this dumb, you can still ninja nodes. Normally they
have maybe 1 defender a node, and many times you find that they
aren’t paying much attention at all. I have taken a node
many times with someone on the enemy team standing right next
to me. You can try this first. If it doesn’t work, then
kill the solo guard. Of course, if you are facing a good team,
help will arrive. What you should do then is have another druid
or rogue waiting by the flag while you run away. Chances are,
they will all chase you. Your partner can then cap the flag.
This
kind of "sneaky attack" is the best way to capture nodes
in Arathi Basin, as frontal assaults rarely work unless you have
way more attacking than they have defending, because their graveyard
is closer, and unless you kill them all at once, they will have
a member or two left over holding it out while the rest are waiting
to ressurect. This creates an endless zerg and eventually the
your attack team will be wiped out.
Druids
also make great defenders. You can wait in stealth and track humanoids
in cat form. If you are being zerged you can shift to bear and
buy lots of time for your team. Use frenzied regeneration and
NS (if you have it) to heal yourself and swipe as many targets
trying to cap the flag as possible. Remember that the point in
defending a node is not to kill, but to keep your opponents from
capping the flag and outlast. If you are on a good team, backup
will soon come. Rank 1 moonfire is your friend, as it stops flag
capture. So if you are not taking hits in bear form, you should
be spamming rank 1 moonfire at anyone who is trying to cap your
flag. The point is to buy time until your teammates show up.
Some tips
for Arathi Basin:
~Always
go behind the enemy and try to avoid frontal assaults.
~Defense is key. Never leave a node unguarded. If you see an unguarded
node, go there.
~Moonfire rank 1 stops flag captures.
~Mill-BS-Farm is the easiest trio to defend due to the mill's
altitude (players up there can see what's going on in BS and farm
clearly) and general short distance between these nodes. Try to
cap these.
~The mine is not a great commodity because you can't see activity
in any other node from there.
~Hurricane does NOT stop flag capture.
~Swipe enemies capping flag in bear form if you are being attacked.
~Use stealth to your advantage.
And finally,
faerie fire every rogue you see to piss them off.
